Tradition. At the edge of every mapmaker's canvas:
Less than amusing to the peasants of any fantasy setting, perpetually poised in the parchment gaps where maps begin and end. Where a brawny local hero is the only thing keeping the average householder from being ripped limb-from-sternum by those claws and tentacles that lurk hungrily behind every bump in the night.
The spawn of Cthulhu lurk the very darkest recesses of the night. Moon beasts and dimensional shamblers lead the way, sniffing out prey for elder horrors such as the Nightgaunt, the sickly blue Polyp, or foul lord Tsuthoggua himself. Cthulu mythos miniatures by RAFM. |

Hearlding the apocalypse: dark Nyarlatotep, whose very visage brings madness to all who behold him. No, RIF does not take responsibility for any personal problems you may believe you have developed after viewing this image. We maintain that people who spend their time with painted models of fictional monsters are somewhat kooky to begin with. Besides, a little bit of madness makes the world so much more entertaining ... |

A Cthuloid nexus crawler shambles toward the scent of prey. Ral, Lord of the Balrogs, prepares for his next dental exam. Nexus Crawler by RAFM. Ral by - who else? - Ral Partha. |

Ever gaze in wonder when you see a pair of shoes hanging from a wire? Beware the Coven of Wraiths. They will steal your soles ... |

Slime, jelly, ooze, and mold. Woe betide he who cleans not his bathroom ... |

Owlbear, Bugbear ... just plain Bear. |

Who let the dogs out? More to the point, who's going to leash them up? Volunteers? Anyone? Cerebus by Reaper Miniatures. |

Illithid, Bakthalian, Mind Flayer ... brain-eating abominations by any name. |

The Insect Warrior brings his own style of swordplay to the table. Figure by Ral Partha. And yes, this is one of my earliest paint jobs, relic of my pack-rat tendency to get rid of nothing. |

Speaking of rats, the sewer wererats come in all shapes, colors, and medical conditions. Most of them have a bit of mange, but old Frosty's fungus is so bad he can't even wear his armor anymore. |

An aspect of Demogorgon occupies the mortal world just long enough to anoint the dark rituals of his followers. The dank, rubbery troll that attends him doubles as a source of quick snacks. Bite a piece off, and it just grows back ... |

Nobody here but us chickens ... No borderland farmer goes too long without worrying about the day a cockatrice will end up trapped in his henhouse. And the manticore is no welcome visitor either. |

Even the strangest of woods are not void of that which is good of heart. Mother pegasus and unicorn enlist a friendly centaur to help protect their offspring. |

Behind them lurk the enchanted forest's natural scavengers: giant centipedes, spiders, beetles, and scorpions. Well, miniature giants, since these are 25mm scale ... which makes them about normal size ... why didn't I just buy samples from an ornothological supplier? Maybe because the pins through the thorax don't look so realistic. |

Elementals. Power of raw nature for the enchanter able to control them. But mind you don't make a mistake, for such spirits hate to be bound ... |

This collection includes figures recently purchased and figures over twenty years old. I have listed the manufacturer where known, but in many cases that information has been lost in the sands of time. If you recognize the origin of any of these figures, let me know and I will update the page.
