Soul-Gem Bearers

It's no secret that I've never been a big Games Workshop fan. But I'm also a notorious skinflint, and have never been slow to snap up a good deal. When GW discontinued its Epic 6mm sci-fi line, many players turned to eBay to rid themselves of lead and plastic (mostly plastic) that had once represented huge investments of time and money, but in the stroke of a pen become "not officially sanctioned." Secondhand prices plummeted. Never intending to use Epic rules to begin with, I was more than happy to relieve them of their burdens.

The painting on these pieces is better than many of the other epic figures I've acquired. Somebody spent some time and energy on these before the codex was revised out from under them.

The buildings are Ground Zero Games modular structures and an Armorcast modular refinery.

The Eldar race, ever in tune with nature, has devised the ideal camoflauge for creeping through verdant woods ...

... or among flowering birch trees ...

... or for posing as statues outside a public library.

But the idea of self-propelled, enclosed artillery somehow escapes them.

Walkers: Bigger Feet kick More Butt

I've got to leave off poking fun for a moment to admire the work the painter did on these cockpits.

And the way the pattern is matched on these pieces.

The red ones don't actually go faster. Only an orc would believe that. But we should not mock our brother creatures' intellectual deficiencies, nor seek to confuse them through deceptive earth tones and camo patterns.

An ancient spacefaring race, the Eldar have advanced to the dizzying height of understanding angled armor and low target profiles. Some say they are on the verge of developing the primary-weapon turret.

Goth-Eldar would not be seen in battle without their chains and studs.
